Trekking | Packing & Clothing List

All you need for safety in the city is a seat belt or helmet, but it’s not nearly as much fun as the outdoors. Some of the protective/safety items listed below go in a backpack and some go in a waist pouch. Your emergency/survival kit should be compact, waterproof and with you at all times.

With great fun, comes great responsibility – and just a little bit of jealousy.

Do always carry a small emergency kit that includes the following:

  • Waterproofed match box/Lighter (in a watertight cellophane packet)
  • Torch with extra batteries
  • Sun screen SPF 15+ (if required) & sunglasses
  • Bottled water (enough of it) & water purifying tabs
  • Small sachets of Electral/Oral Rehydration Solution/Gatorade/Tang/powdered glucose
  • Few energy bars/chocolate
  • Penknife
  • Prescribed medicines (if any) and a basic first aid kit (though your Motours guide will be carrying a first aid kit, it is always recommended that you also carry one)
  • Couple of meters of string/twine (no, leave the gift wrapping paper out)
  • Whistle (not the wolf variety please)
  • Wristwatch (you need to look at it before you ‘tell the time’ by looking at the Sun)
  • Compass (we can give you a quick lesson if you don’t know how to use it)
  • Mobile phone (these days the connectivity helps in an emergency)
  • Some cash
  • ID proof - Driver’s licence/PAN card - If you’re a foreigner please carry photo copies of your passport and visa
  • Camera and accessories (optional)

About India

India is a whole sub-continent that was turned into a nation by a quirk of history. Through historical and cultural ties, it once included Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. This sprawling landscape was full of kingdoms that alternately practised war and peace with each other.
