Motorcycling | FAQs

How much riding experience do I need?
Two years recent riding experience is good enough for us, riding experience from a previous life is not accepted. You will of course, need to have a full licence for a two-wheeler.

We request our co-riders to be sensible on the road and social within the group, and with the others that we interact with. No riding independent of the tour group is allowed.

Will I have to share a room?
Hmm depends…do you snore?

Well actually yes, you will need to share a comfortable accommodation. Single rooms are likely to be unavailable at many stops, as the hotels we use are popular – or in some cases small – and we have to book our accommodation some time in advance. Besides, some of our roomies end up becoming good friends.

What standard is the accommodation?
It could vary from ‘once a small palace’ to ‘what’s a palace?’

But be assured that it will always be clean, and the best we can find in the area, for a reasonable price. In some places you may be staying in comfortable tented camps, in others, luxury huts or hotel rooms.

Will we have electricity?
This is something even the local electricity department would like to know.

So it can't be guaranteed. Power cuts are likely. Thus, if it's vital you need electrical power every night, please speak to us before booking. Don't forget a travel adaptor to recharge mobile devices.

Yes, two years recent riding experience is good enough for us. You will of course, need to have a full licence for a two-wheeler, this is compulsory

How fast will we be riding?
A bit different from the ‘the slow and the furious’ in our city traffic jams.

We prefer our groups to ride at an average speed of 70 kmph. Bikers tend to own Royal Enfield ‘Bullets’ and this is a steady speed which helps us enjoy the road and do it in safety.

What are the rules of the motorcycling group?
Remember, road rage is a sign of old age.

We request our co-riders to be sensible on the road and social within the group, and with the others that we interact with. If an individual rides dangerously or displays antisocial behavior, he/she will receive a warning. If they continue to be a threat to the safety or enjoyment of others on the tour, they will be excluded from the remainder of the trip (with no refund given). No riding independent of the tour group is allowed.

How fit do I need to be?
If you can climb the Himalayas…sorry, the stairs…without panting, you’re in.

You need to be reasonably fit. Biking tests your patience and in a way your endurance on the road. But it doesn’t require extreme levels of athletic fitness or great coordination.

Can I take a pillion?
Your call, it’s double the pleasure or double the trouble.

Ensure your pillion is not the type who falls asleep after hours on the road. The pillion rider faces some really long hard days in the saddle, bumpy roads that almost shake them off at times, and in the mountains, some pretty shocking drop-offs. If riders have any doubt over handling the extra weight, then we'd advise they ride solo. It is possible to book a place in a support vehicle for those who want to join the tour, but do not want to ride.

Can I get my clothes cleaned on the tour?
If the tour takes more than a day, yes.

Check the itinerary, if the stop is for more than one night, you will have the time to get your laundry cleaned.

About India

India is a whole sub-continent that was turned into a nation by a quirk of history. Through historical and cultural ties, it once included Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. This sprawling landscape was full of kingdoms that alternately practised war and peace with each other.
